Welllll…. this week took a turn!!! Pretty crazy week here in the Norwalk ward so let’s see what happened!!!
Monday: I was itching for pday to come around so I woke up very relieved that it was Prep Day lol. The morning was usual and we then went to pick up packages, as usual, for the Zone. The Pday activity was volleyball and it was a ton of fun! We have the biggest Zone in the mission and this pday activity we had almost everyone show up so it felt like a Zone conference. haha.
I had an interview with President Galotera, and man… it was awesome. He gave me so much guidance about things I can be doing better and just answered so many of my questions!
Tuesday: Lowkey trash day tbh haha. We did a service for a lady in the ward and we cleaned out her garage. Felt like some Saturday chores with the Fam back in the day. lol.
We had some problems happen in the Zone that we got informed of and so we took the next couple hours figuring out all of those issues. We then went to institute which is pretty fun. The teacher goes way over time every single time tho, so it’s pretty tough.
Wednesday: WILD. We had our zone conference in the morning and elder Connel and I did a awesome Lightsaber battle for the training. It was about how we can’t win the battles with our friends if we can’t win our own battles first. So we got some good footage if anyone wants to see the video lmk lol.
We then had a lesson with Julie and Tom. We taught them about temples because they wanted to know what happens inside of the White Castles. Pretty valid lesson. We did some leadership visits in the ward and went to the youth activity. BUTTTTT the shocking news came when the transfer report came out. What? Wait! Elder Connel and I thought we were both going to stay because there was no reason for us to be moved. But, Elder Connel left me. I got a new companion and stayed a ZL here in Norwalk in the Cypritos zone.
Thursday: Spent the morning just packing and cleaning. I am legit turning into my Mom. I was getting lost in cleaning this apartment and it was so much fun. Everything just got scrubbed and washed. It was amazing.
We had lunch with our friend James again at Dennys. It was his birthday so that was cool. I’ll add a pic of us at the bottom. We talked about how we can test truth and know for ourselves what is true and false.
There was a missionary going home in the zone so as he was at some of the meetings. We got his companion and so we were a trio for the night. It was a lot of fun. Because we had 2 areas to cover we had 2 member dinners that night, so we were STUFFED! It was so funny.
Friday: Transfer day! Went to the Mission office and dropped off Elder Connel and grabbed my new comp Elder Denos! He is so cool. We came out together in the same group so we are the same mission age. He is from Nebraska and we get along good so far.
We had our stupid MLC meeting that is the definition of pointless in my opinion. ha ha.
Man there are so many Missionaries kissing up to the AP’s and leadership out here ha ha.
We came back to the area and got to work. We found a couple cool people to teach and have already seen some fruits of our labors. We had some dinner with the Downs family and that was interesting…. had a chill rest of the night unpacking and settling in.
Saturday: 1st full day of the transfer was solid! Had a pretty slow morning but it picked up in the afternoon. We had a lesson with the Pierres and that was great. We shared the importance of scripture study and why we have scriptures. Hopefully, Bro Pierre continues on his path to baptism. We had lunch with Brother Solomua at subway and just visits for the rest of the night.
We had a planning meeting with some leadership here in the zone and I just get too upset after those meetings because they are so pointless ha ha!
Sunday: Pretty average Sunday in the mission! The 7 am ward Council is still criminal but it’s all good. This Ward is interesting, so it was fun to introduce Elder Denos to the ward goons. We had a ton of visits in the afternoon and just tried to get to know the members more. We had a lesson with our member, Bro Cavanaugh. We meet with him every other day and do a study class. He has some mental issues and is a little bit…well slow… but I for real love him do much. He gives amazing insights and this week he actually taught me a ton about integrity and his point of view. It was awesome to hear him preach to me! We then ended the night planning for zone devotional again. Rip.
Well this should be a fun transfer here with Elder Denos in the Norwalk ward! I think we have a lot of potential friends who might end up making their first covenant with Heavenly Father some day.
In my personal study this week I was asking myself why haven’t I been able to baptize yet or how come things don’t seem to go my way. Then I realized, that it is not even close to being about me. I realized how prideful my way of thinking has been and how I am the last person I need to worry about right now.
I encourage you all to strive to be humble. I am working on it so hard right now too, so everyone can keep me accountable lol.
I love you all so much and have great summer! Hit me up if you have some free time!!
