Yo! So last week I promised you all a better email because I have been slacking, so let’s absolutely get into things!
Let’s just start with how much I love my Area, Comp, District, and all the above! My companion Elder Evans is a beast. He is super funny and always is in a good mood! Which helps me a lot because I tend to get upset with the work sometimes. I am still a District Leader and my district is so goofy. We got a new missionary, Sister Langa, in the district and she is from the Philippines and is with another Filipino, Utah girl. The companionship is crazy. The zone I am in is currently massive. Biggest in the mission. And it’s pretty fun but also very crazy.
This week was pretty funny! Currently, our bishop is still brand spanking new. He became bishop the week I came into the area, about 3 months ago. And, let me tell you… HE IS SOOOO FUNNY! His humor is unmatched and it’s legendary. We were driving out of the church parking lot after a youth activity and our bishop stops us. He is standing by the dumpster and he says, ” “Elders, I read King Mosiah’s address this morning and the part about him serving the poor really did strike me hard as a bishop….. Now, you have to help me throw away all of this homeless people’s stuff. ” I WAS DEADDDDDD! The way he says it was just unreal. He kills me. There was a shopping cart full of clothes, blankets, drugs, and all the stuff in between. We pick it up and chuck it into the garbage bin for him. haha! I love him.
This week I had a really cool experience, which I will actually take seriously lol. A couple of weeks ago Elder Evans and I did hybrid tracting for a bit, as we usually do. We knocked on the door, and a hispanic lady opened the door and said, ” I’m busy right now but please please come back,” and we hadn’t even explained who we were. We forgot to make any note of the house address and we completely forgot about it.
Anyway fast forward to Friday, we were tracting in a complex we have been dying to get into. We knock the 3rd door and this lady is talking to Elder Evans and she said, “Come back another time, maybe.” Everyone says that. In my head I think, “How come everyone says that when they really don’t want us over” Then, that other door just pops in my head in an instant. I tell Elder Evans, ” We gotta go find that door right now.” So, we run out of the complex and I give shoutout to my Dad for giving me a good sense of direction. I am somehow able to drive straight to her house.
We knock and she opened it! She was so excited to see us! She said she was busy again but was still interested. We gave her a Gospel of Jesus Christ pamphlet and talked about how this gospel can bless her and her family. She then asked, ” Do you happen to have another set of scripture like the bible?” Elder Evans says, Actually, yes we do”, We gave her a Book of Mormon and she wants us to come over next week and have dinner when her family is around! Super cool Miracle! “Follow The Spirit.”
This week is “Transfers” and I’m PRAYING I can stay here with Elder Evans. We have some good people we are teaching and we are having a ton of fun with each other. “God’s Will” be done.
Love you all so much and hope all you Mothers had a great day. “Love you Momma” <3
