Founding of Anaheim
The first settlers were 50 families of German emigrants in 1857. They were former residents of San Francisco. The land purchased was part of the Mexican land grant. The name of the city was derived from the Santa Ana River and the German term “heim” which means “home”. Anaheim was know for its grape vineyards until in 1880 when the vineyards were wiped out because of a blight. Oranges replaced the grapes and became the backbone of Anaheim’s agriculture.

Anaheim is the second most popular city behind Orlando Florida for vacation destination.


Disney Land is the most popular attraction in the Anaheim. The city is also the home for the Los Angles Angel Baseball team, which play at Angel Stadium.  And, the Ducks hockey team are proud to call Anaheim home.

Downtown Anaheim

Opened in 1927 as Anaheim’s first “City Park,” this historic 19 acres was renamed in 1960 in honor of former Mayor Charles A. Pearson.

A new guided walk has launched in Hull’s Pearson Park and it’s completely free and can be enjoyed any time during opening hours. The Pearson Park Heritage Trail has been developed using archive material and leads visitors around the park on a 1.6km route with 19 historical stopping points to explore.

Downtown Anaheim provides high quality family entertainment during the months of the summer. The Pearson Park Amphitheater replicates the eloquent Spanish-style architecture with terra-cotta roof tiles and a landscape of Mexican Fan Palms, Wisteria and Bougainvillea.

The 2020 US Census claims the city had a population of 346,824 population.

Between January to May daytime temperatures range from 72 to 75. From June through October temperatures generally range from 82 to 89 degrees. November through December, the range is from 77 to 79.

The coldest evening temperatures occur most often in December. It averages just seven night a year when it gets as cold as 40 degrees. Even on exceptional cold nights, the temperature never goes below freezing.
