Let’s start with a funny story! This week I was on exchanges with Elder Ryu on Saturday and it was a long day! He is awesome and we had fun but we weren’t finding much success. We sat and prayed for guidance on where to go and it lead us to an apartment complex.
We went around looking for someone named Evelyn who had filled out a form but never gave us an apt. number. At the first door was this absolute bum of a guy. He opens up and goes, “Satan and Jesus are not brothers. Joseph Smith is a fraud. Mormons are going to burn. You are a cult.” He just goes on and on. Elder Ryu and I were trying not to laugh at this goon. After a couple seconds we go,”Sir we respect your beliefs and we simply ask you respect ours, thank you.” And, as we leave, he is still talking our ears off as we walk down the stairs.
We go just couple apartments over and he comes back out and starts “Chewing us Out” again! Elder Ryu had enough, and just said to the guy, “Sir, how old are you?”
I start actually laughing at this dude and we finally just walk away from the complex laughing as he is still yelling at us. The Bro really thought he did something cool by yelling at two 19 year old kids trying to help people find Jesus.
It makes me sad knowing the adversary has such a strong grasp on people’s hearts.
Anyway, this week was pretty decent! Lets go over the highlights.
– Zone conference was fire! We learned all about baptism and how we can best invite others to be baptized.
– Got to see my boy Elda Turpin timeeee
– Interviews with President was great as usual. Spent a whole just shooting the breeze then he just asked some regular questions per usual. I love that man so much.
– exchanges with Elder Ryu were fun as you can tell haha!
– Not gonna lie last pday was one of the worst pdays of my mission haha. The activity was so boring and I just was not feeling it at all.
– We had sooo many lessons cancel on us this week, so that was really hard.
– Me and Elder Saxton play PIG every night and ya boy is up 10
And the best part of the week was finding our new friend Chris! All the transfer, Elder Saxton and I have been praying mightily to find the elect.
We got to a Walmart parking lot to do some contacting and we came across Chris within two minutes. He was so receptive and we have him a copy of Book of Mormon. He said he loves the Book of Mormon. We shared Alma 7:11-12 with him and the spirit was so strong.
We aren’t sure if he is in our area or not, but we are getting his address soon. I know the Lord hears and answers our prayers. And, if we prepare ourselves, he will answer our prayers according to our faith.
I hit my year mark on my mission this last week and it was a very humbling experience actually. I have seen a lot of growth in myself within the past year and yet I’m not even close to the person I want to become by the time I come home.
I am lucky enough to have another year left to serve the Lord and become the person He wants me to be. I love you all and can’t wait to hear from you!
